We spoke with DSA Alum, Susanna Peca, to see how life after college has been!
What has been keeping you busy since graduating from DSA?
I am studying at Florida International University, which has an exceptional math department. That is where I spend most of my time. I work at Kumon (a learning center) and I am also a Learning Assistant (LA) at FIU for Calculus 3.
What are you studying and what would you like to do in the future?
I am a Math major and I am looking forward to different research opportunities which will help me get into grad school.
How did DSA prepare you for where you are now?
I am a math major, and DSA’s math program allowed me to learn Calculus 1 and 2 very well, which helped me do a great job in Calculus 3 in college. This will definitely help me with future coursework, also.
Outside of math, the many essays and projects I was assigned gave me the writing skills I need in college, where certain classes require heavy writing.
What advice do you have for current students?
Focus on your studies, not the drama! Find what you like to study, or what you like to do, whether it is academics, sports, fashion, etc. If you find what you are passionate about, it will make pursuing your career seem much easier than it is (and help avoid wasting time, credits, and money in college because you are undecided).
